Due to the large volume of bookings, and ongoing requests for flexible opening times Thorrington Scout Camp has made the decision to apply a blanket policy to opening times going forward.
For all bookings arriving on a FRIDAY evening, the campsite will not be accessible until 7 pm, this is due to the fact that our wardens are all volunteers and thus arrive after work. If you wish to arrive before this time you MUST contact the duty warden relevant for your stay at least 1 WEEK before your stay to request this, however, this is down to the discretion of the duty warden/warden availability. The relevant email address can be found on your contact information guide within your welcome pack that you receive at the point of booking.
For midweek bookings outside of school holidays, you must arrange this with our booking secretary who will negotiate a suitable arrival time with you, this email address can be found on your contact information guide within your welcome pack that you receive at the point of booking.
This policy applies to all bookings regardless of historical decisions/allowances made. Please remember that all our wardens volunteer their spare time to attend Thorrington and ensure that the campsite is feasible for the local community. Any abuse will not be tolerated, and Thorrington Scout Camp has no hesitation to take action when required.
