Official Statement: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update 07/07/2020

Dear Campers and Visitors,

I am writing to update the current situation for Thorrington in light of the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) as of 10:00 07/07/2020

Given the Government’s guidance, all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities and events were suspended from Tuesday, 17 March 2020

As lockdown measures are starting to ease, we are preparing for getting you all back on site as soon as it is safe to do so. As you may or may not be aware, the Scout Association is using a traffic light system to identify when it safe to begin certain activities.

We are currently on AMBER some face to face Scouting can start. This must be of no more than 15 people (including leaders) and must be outside.

We still require this to be GREEN for any overnight stays to take place. The earliest date that this may occur currently is September 25th 2020, however, this may change.

To keep track of what level on the traffic system we are, R, A, Y, G, please check on the Scout Association’s website, here https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/scouts-at-home/getting-everyone-back-together-safely/

Now the tracker is AMBER, some outdoor scouting can take place. We are currently reviewing our risk assessments for the site so you can grab these from the internet as part of your risk assessments to come back. These will be available via the link on our home page, along with any other key pieces of information.

If you have managed to get the go-ahead to have face-to-face scouting and wish to come to Thorrington, please use the same booking enquiry form and I will get back to you about how we can be there for you.

In the meantime, if you have an overnight stay booked with us before the 25th of September, please check your email as you will have received instructions on the next steps.

We understand it is difficult to know exactly when you can and might want to stay later this year and in 2021, but please be aware that we are already busier than normal for these time periods and encourage you to book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

We will, of course, offer alternative dates or refunds if there is a return to lockdown at any point in the future, due to the Coronavirus.

As always, please continue to follow the guidance set out by the Government and NHS, which can be found here https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

If you have any suggestions on how we can support you with online content over the summer for your sections, please do drop us an email at COVID-19@thorringtonscoutcamp.org
