Official Statement: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update 01/07/2020

Updated: Nov 9, 2021

Dear Campers,

I am writing to update the current situation for Thorrington in light of the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) as of 07:00 01/07/2020

Given the Government’s guidance, all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities, and events were suspended from Tuesday, 17 March 2020. As lockdown measures are starting to ease, we are preparing for getting you all back on site as soon as it is safe to do so. As you may or may not be aware, the Scout Association is using a traffic light system to identify when it safe to begin certain activities. We are currently on RED – all activities online We require this to be GREEN for any overnight stays to take place. The earliest date that this may occur currently is September 25th, 2020, however, this may change. To keep track of what level on the traffic system we are, R, A, Y, G, please check on the Scout Association’s website, here https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/scouts-at-home/getting-everyone-back-together-safely/ Once this tracker is AMBER, some outdoor scouting can take place. We are looking into whether this may allow you to visit Thorrington again and will update you once we have had confirmation. In the meantime, if you have a camp date before the 25th of September, please check your email as you will have received instructions on the next steps. We understand it is difficult to know exactly when you can and might want to stay later this year and in 2021, but please be aware that we are already busier than normal for these time periods and encourage you to book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. We will, of course, offer alternative dates or refunds if there is a return to lockdown at any point in the future, due to the Coronavirus. As always, please continue to follow the guidance set out by the Government and NHS, which can be found here https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus If you have any suggestions on how we can support you with online content over the summer for your sections, please do drop us an email at COVID-19@thorringtonscoutcamp.org
