Official Statement: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update 16/03/20

Updated: Mar 17

Dear Campers,

I am writing to confirm the current situation for Thorrington Scout Camp in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

At Thorrington Scout Camp we take the safety of our visitors and staff very seriously.

We are aware of the current concerns surrounding Coronavirus and we are following all guidelines set out by the Government and the NHS. We are also providing additional guidance and support for you during your stay with us.

We have followed the governments guidance to educational settings which you can read here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19

By following these steps we can minimise risk to all who attend site and continue to remain open during this difficult time.

We provide hand-wash and hot water to all people on site and encourage the use of these frequently whilst staying with us.

We also have posters up identifying the signs and symptoms of the disease for all to refer to.

We will ensure all public areas are cleaned regularly throughout the day, with additional emphasis on door handles and touch points.

We ask you to do the following:

Encourage regular hand-washing with all your group and when soap and hot water are not available use alcohol gel (you must supply your own).

Ensure your cooking and cleaning teams increase the frequency of cleaning all surfaces before and after use.

Should anyone in your group present with signs or symptoms of Coronavirus whilst on site, the leader in charge must arrange for their collection from site immediately and notify the duty warden at the soonest opportunity.

Should one of your group be identified as having shown signs or symptoms, or been confirmed as having COVID-19, within 7 days of your visit, we ask you contact us by email immediately via the website.

Thorrington Scout Camp will continue monitoring the updates from the Government, NHS and Scout Association around premises such as ours. Should the guidelines change and we need to close the site, we will notify you immediately.

With regards monies you have paid us:

Should the site have to close then we would be happy to rearrange your stay with us to a future date and transfer any fees already paid to this new booking.

However, should you wish to not organise a future date then we would return all monies paid to you, including your deposit.

Should you be unable to attend due to issues relating to Coronavirus, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible and we will be happy to rearrange your stay transferring all payments made to the new booking. Alternatively we will return all monies paid to us.

Thorrington Scout Camp will only undertake such repayments that relate directly to Coronavirus and not any other cause for cancellation.

Any further updates relating to Thorrington Scout Camp and Coronavirus, other than full site closure, will be updated on our website https://www.thorringtonscoutcamp.co.uk/ and we ask that you check this regularly prior to your stay.

At Thorrington Scout Camp we are always happy to support you in whatever way we can, but please be aware that it is not possible for our secretary to respond to emails immediately all of the time, but should you need a more rapid response, please mark as urgent and your reference number on the subject.

For all coronavirus (COVID-19) enquiries please email COVID-19@thorringtonscoutcamp.org

Thank you again for your patience during this time.
